Hello,

My fiance and I just recently moved in with friends of ours in lieu of searching for a home....They are a couple with an adorable 4 year old boy who has CP and an 8 year old boy. I like the 8 year old however; he was playing with my son yesterday and dragging around a shoe that my son was chasing, he brought the shoe over to the edge of the steps where my 17 month old could have easily fallen, this is after his mother told him not be near the edges because he could fall. Shortly thereafter my son ackwardly ran into him and was momentarily leaning on the 8 year olds leg, the 8 year old moved away quickly and allowed my son to fall on the deck. An hour earlier the 8 year old was playing with a nerf dart gun and shot at my son, missing him by 2 feet. He also addresses my son in 2nd person as "she" as he thinks he has a girls name.....On all occasions the mother lightly repremanded the 8 year old even though he continued act inappropriately (imo).

After the events I got in an argument with my fiance and told her she needs to keep a very close eye on both of them....after I told her what happened she said I need to repremeand the 8 year old, I dont feel comfortable doing this....its not my child

I know this is a big change for the 8 year old as well......But I know there will be times when he is alone near my son, even if for a brief moment and my son cant protect himself or communicate that something is wrong......this scares me.....no matter what my job is to protect my son but i cant be there all the time........I just have a gut feeling that the 8 year old may do something that could harm my son....maybe even un-intentionally

We are currently saving to buy a new home and it is possible we may be here for another 5 months before we will be able to do so........In the meantime any advice would be greatly appreciated, the 17 month is my first child.....
