Default Advice for 1st Time Mommy

My son is almost 15 months old and will not self feed himself at all. I have tried almost every toddler food imaginable as well as bite size pieces of regular food. All he does is pick them up and throw them on the floor. If it something mushy in texture he will roll it around on his fingers and 'inspect' it, but will not bring it to his mouth. I have tried guiding his fingers to his mouth, but he fights me and still refuses to do it on his own. He also doesn't put anything in his mouth to explore it..great for safety reasons, but I am a little concerned. He wouldn't hold his bottle until about 10 months and still will only drink from his sippy cup when it is held for him. I have tried several types of cups, but have been unsuccessful. He is walking all over the place, extremely social, can shake his head no and will wave on occasion. However, he NEVER points at anything and although he babbles constantly, he only says 'Ma' and that is only when he is mad or upset. Has anyone experienced anything similar with their children? Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi carynr
I know you can not say to a new mom don't worry but don't Every child is different,All it is that some kids learn quickly than other kids i know you don't
but don't get angry with him make it a game and reward him when he does it himself.

If you are concerned go and see your doctor get him to refer you to see some one just put your mind at rest.

An as far the bottle go's our mark will kill me for saying this lol he was drinking out of the same bottle until he was 3 he only stopped when we went on holiday and we forgot to take it with us.

To your parenting journey,
Joe Pickering

A lot of things worried me when my son was little. E' wouldn't put stuff in his mouth either. Burst of rage after waking up from naps sometimes (turned out to be night terror) and more
Eventually , the majority just stopped overtime without me doing anything.
Just keep in mind and ask the doctor at the next visit.
