Our son is completely potty trained during the day, but we have made zero progress on overnight potty training. In fact there are nights he can overflow and overnight diaper!
How do you start working on overnight potty training? Do we just wait until he starts to stay dry? Do I need to get him up to go on a schedule? |

when my middle son was 3 1/2, he had been day trained almost 6 months but was still waking up SOAKING wet every morning...like soaking through the diaper, through the jammies, washing the sheets every morning, soaking wet. one morning, dh had HAD it. he looked at ds and said, "son, i am done. there will be no more diapers. you will wear undies to bed tonight, and you will NOT pee in them." ds said "okay." and that was it. lol! he has been dry ever since. lol! i still can't believe it. now, with ds that is a little over 3...we are not so lucky. i've tried it all....i believe he'll be in diapers until he's 4. especially at night. all that to say...i don't know how to start working on overnight poty training. i COMPLETELY lucked out with the middle son, and i can't catch a break with this one. lol. good luck! it is TRULY truly a joyous day when you don't have to buy any more diapers.
good luck!!!!!!!

Overnight potty "training" is a biological readiness issue. For more information read Elizabeth Pantley's No Cry Potty Training Solution.
My oldest had been day trained for six months before we bit the bullet and wore a pair of underwear to bed. He has only had one accident in that time. |

We just recently overnight potty trained dd at 2 1/2. What we did with her was cut off all liquids at least an hr before bed and made sure she went potty right before climbing into bed. For about the 1st month, Dh or I would wake her up right before we went to bed (2-3 hrs later) and put her on the potty again. We also put her little portable potty in her room and told her if she needed to to potty in the night she could go right there. We also never did pull ups...just went straight to underwear. The 1st 4 or 5 days I was washing sheets daily, but we've only had a coulpe accidents since.
