Hi, I am new to this site and thought it might be a good place to get unbiased suggestions/help.

My son is now just over 4 and some of his behaviours worry me. I am a stay home mom. One behaviour that I find odd and I am not sure how to handle is when I give him positive praise. Example: He is singing along to a song. When's he's done I might say: " I love your singing" or "so great you know how to sing that song"

Most of the time he gets angry that I am acknowleging it. He makes an angry face and growls or scowls at me or angrily turns away from me. I am confused by this behavior. It's not only when he is singing. It can be any kind of positive statement that triggers this response like: Good job sharing with your sister, You are so gentlle with babies/animals, etc. Any ideas why he may be doing this?

It makes it difficult to give him positive encouragement.
