I have been toying with the idea of going back to school....but can not fathom how to make it work between school and kids. I could not afford daycare, so I'd have to go to school at night, which means I would not see my dh or older kids as much. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around all the logistics.
Student moms....how do you manage to do it all? |

I have just enrolled in school starting this summer. Fortunately, my twins are already in daycare and I am able to arrange my schedule around their school sched. What ws the cutest thing was after explaining to my twins that mommy's going to big girl school, my son exclaimed, " Mommy, you're going to have homework?! I have to make sure you do your homework.. so no more TV at night!"... All I could do is laugh!

I sympathize. I anticipated having trouble doing it all so was trying to finish my degree before having kids, but it was just dragging on and on.. my phd dissertation was parenting-related, so I figured it'd be good hands-on experience to go ahead with the kids now.
We've been foster parents for 4 months to a now almost 11 month old little girl, and even though she is in daycare, and I work part time (I teach two two-hour classes M-F), I am STILL having trouble getting into study-mode. Now we're about to adopt a newborn baby in 2 months, and my dissertation is still no where near the finish line. However, I think it's based on a person's motivation. I had realized I would not use my degree for a career but continued bc I didn't want the time and money and effort to go down the drain. So perhaps I don't have the best motivation to keep at it. But if you have a clear plan of how a degree will help you and your family, you should be able to do it, if only one semester at a time. Good luck! |
