my son is 15. i know it is going to come any day now. "mom, will you drive me and (insert name here) to the movies?" i DREAD that day. i was SO happy before Valentine's day because my son said he would NEVER ask a girl out before V Day because he didn't want to have to buy her a gift! lol. Ahhhhh....music to a mom's ears. lol. but now that day has come and passed. He is my first....so he will be my first experience with teen dating, since I was a teen that is.
lol. what about you? when did you let your teen start dating? |

My oldest will be a teen next year (GASP) and so far he is NOT interested in girls except as friends.
What does concern me though is how kids are already "dating" at his age and it's just unreal to me. A friend up the street has a 13 year old and she's asked to go to the movies with a boy. My friend said "no". I think 15-16 is a good age for us, but it'll of course depend on my kids maturity level. |

last night at dinner, my teen dd who weighs 95 pounds SOAKING WET was eating jalapeno peppers. my ds, 15, looked at her and said, "wow.....you are going to be skinny if you keep eating those." lol....if he's going to tell skinny-nothings of a girl that they are GOING TO BE skinny.........i think i'm safe from the dating world of teenagers for a while! lol.

yes.
that day is about to come. be raedy its not very far. oh come on it is just a process of growing up that teenagers get attracted towards opposite sex. even me and you have done that. one thing that is needed. give your son every possible knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases. |

I went on my first solo date thing around 17 because it wasn't until then I had my own vehicle. The girl I took out was 16. I guess around 15 is an alright age for the solo date outing, but certainly before that age they should have some social interaction with the opposite sex just not sure what's best, the classic sock hop? Kids these days with texting and facebook seem to have a clue of things way ahead of time and are practically involved in online dating. I've talked with my oldest (13) about how much trouble can come from some of those images the kids I KNOW are sending back and forth can get them in but I wouldn't be surprised to have to sit in front of a school admin and be told he forwarded some dirty image. Hope I don't have to though. A lot different than the awkward feeling up the pant leg or begging for a girl to flash you in person days, it's all so in the open and accessible these days.
