So I know I have a few more years before Brady starts preschool, but I'm curious, how do you manage the drop off and pick up of your kids to and from school? Do you have special hours at work, do you have other moms do it, does the Dad do it?
I was over my In Laws last weekend and my FIL asked me " so when Brady starts school, how are you guys going to swing it?" I've thought about this before, but never really gave it too much thought since it was way off. But now that Brady is almost 1 1/2 it got me thinking again, how will we do it? I have to be at work by 8:30-9 and work til 5:30 Mon-Thur. (I live 45 mins from work) My dh is a Police Officer and works days. He leaves the house by 6 to drop Brady off at his sisters and then heads to work. He starts work at 8 until 4. His work is about 30-40 mins from home. So I'm not even sure what we would do? What are the hours for preschool usually? I really have no idea how these things work!!! I appreciate your input!!

Oh Jill this is a great thread. It is never to early to start thinking of these things because they grow so fast.
My Hubby and I were just talking about this. As of right now if he stays where he is in the department then he will just adjust his hours so he can be home to drop the kids at the bus stop and then we would need to find either an after school program or a sitter to get Gabe after school. I hope others post with their solution to this question. Hugs!! |

I am a teacher so last year when my daughter was in preschool, she went to a preschool/daycare. She had two hours of instruction in the morning and then two in the afternoon. We loved it. I would take her around 7:30 and pick her up around 4. This year I was lucky enough to move to a part time job and make about the same income as full time last year. So this year I am able to take and pick her up she starts school at 8 and ends at 2:30. I suggest finding a preschool/daycare for when you child is 3. They will learn so much and have lots of fun.

We have a 2 1/2 and a 9 year old. I leave for work at 6am so my husband gets the kids ready and brings the baby to daycare for 7 when it opens and then drops of our older son at before care (our school has before care from 7:00-8:45 for $5 a day). DH gets to work for 8am. I am a teacher and I get the baby from daycare around 3:20 and get home in time for Zack to get off of the bus at 4. Our school does have an after care as well (I believe until 5:30).

My son has been in daycare since he was six weeks old. He is nine now.
Our daycare usually has pretty liberal hours--usually 7 am to 6:30pm. Rarely would he be there the entire time. I would drop him off at around 8 am, and pick him up at around 5:30. Now he goes to after school care at his school. It closes at 6 pm and costs $55/week. |

Hi Friends,
I can understand your worry regarding your child who will be grown enough in few months to go for pre-school. What I can suggest you is that manage your daily routine. Starting from mornings which is exceptionally rough for many working moms. It can be hard enough to get yourself ready and your kid's too. Here are some ideas for helping you wrest control of your mornings. 1.Do as much as you can do possibly a night before. Set out clothes for the next day — both for yourself and for your child. Pack lunches. Make sure diaper bags, backpacks and work satchels are completely packed and ready to go. 2.Wake up one full hour before your child does and get your all work done. 3.As you’re working full time, you simply may not be able to attend every single activity that your child does. So, make friendship with other parents who may be able to give your kids rides to activities when you can’t. |

Hi,
Things become really difficult fore a women when she has a kid ,who has to be sent to the school and at the same time she herself has to get ready for her office. In such cases one needs to make some preparations a night before like you said. Thanks. |
